SUMMARY:Colorado Skiing/ Mountaineering (WINTER BREAK)
DESCRIPTION:This will be an 8 day\, 7 night trip. We will be staying in a hotel just outside of Denver. There will be a couple of groups on this trip: Ski People\, Mountaineering People\, Denver/ exploring People. Based on what you want to do each day\, a group of people will be going to the mountains to ski\, mountaineering or to the city to explore Denver. For the group of people that want to go skiing\, we will be visiting 3 different mountains: Winter Park\, A Basin and Copper Mountain. Just be aware that all of these mountains accept the icon pass. If you only want to get out on the slopes for a day or two\, you might want to purchase a day pass. I have also heard that A Basin has some good student discounts\, so that is something to keep in mind. For the mountaineering side of things\, that will be determined at a later date. Those that want to explore the city can decide upon destinations based on group interest later. \nPrices: Be prepared to spend $150.00 on breakfast and lodging for the whole trip. Everything else depends on whether or not you need to rent gear or not. \n1/2: Travel to Colorado. \n1/3: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/4: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/5: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/6: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/7: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/8: Ski\, mountaineer or explore Denver. \n1/9: Travel back to campus. \nYou should bring: enough warm clothes for 8 days\, ski/snowboard gear or be prepared to rent\, snow clothes if mountaineering or be prepared to rent\, mountaineering gear or be prepared to rent\, anything else you might take on a trip this long or want to have with you. \nColorado Trip – Google Sheets

SUMMARY:Picacho Peak
DESCRIPTION:We will be doing a day hike a Picacho Peak on MLK day (around 1hr 20m south of Tempe). \nThis is a strenuous hike with 2\,000 feet of elevation gain over 1.7 miles. There are several sections where you pull yourself up with chains. While the hike is steep\, there is no scrambling or anything technical. \nCheck it out on All Trails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/picacho-peak-via-hunter-trail \nThere is no limit on how many people can join as long as there is enough drivers \nMake sure to bring gloves as the chains are cold this time of year. \nThere is a fee of $20 per car to enter the park \nCLICK TO SIGN UP

SUMMARY:Picket Post Mountain Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:This will be a more challenging day hike rated on AllTrails as Hard to Strenuous. There will be lots of incline and some sketchy trail sections that have been described as class 3 scrambles (1 being the easiest\, 5 the hardest). These scramble sections have been described as other hikers as “not too exposed”\, but if you have a fear of heights that can’t be controlled\, maybe don’t do this one. It is a 4.2 mile out and back hike with an elevation gain of ~2000 ft. I would NOT recommend doing this for your first/first few hikes. I myself am expecting this to be challenging. However\, if you have done some moderately strenuous hikes before with similar statistics as this one\, I think it will be a fun challenge. You will need to have good hiking shoes that have real traction\, plenty of water (probably double what you think you need)\, lunch preferably packed with you to eat at the summit\, and a very positive attitude. Picacho Peak is a good prerequisite for this hike\, but Picket Post will probably be harder. On the bright side\, there is a really cute mailbox at the peak that has a register and souvenir collection we can add to! \nHere is a good video showing some of the hikes terrain and scrambles for reference! \nhttps://www.tiktok.com/@sassysalsaaa/video/7582409511906954510?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7517858290845615629 \nCLICK TO SIGN UP
